A record average of 26,000 squats in 24 hours
A person from the state of Illinois in the United States squatted 26 thousand 100 times in 24 hours. It is a form of exercise. It increases the muscle strength of the body. The exercise is like this – from a standing position to sitting on a chair, bending the knees and standing straight again for a while. Waist and back should be straight while knees are bent. And the two hands should be held tightly in front.
He has taken this step to create Guinness World Records and to raise funds for charity.
Decatur resident Tony Piraino’s goal is to break the previous record. In 2020, Rhode Island’s Joe Rivardis set a record by doing 25,000 squats in 24 hours.
Piraino surpassed Rivardis by doing 26,000 squats in the allotted time. However, the Guinness authorities will scrutinize the video of his squat before placing it in the record.
Piraino started squatting at five in the morning last Thursday and finished at five the next morning. He took a 30-second break after each set. Each set consisted of 22 squats. Apart from this, he also took a little longer break. He takes this break to save energy to continue this exercise for a long time.
Piraino initiated the record to raise funds for the Marino County Horizon Center of Decatur and Mount Zion. The funds will be spent on housing, employment opportunities and development of facilities for adults with disabilities.
